About the Position:
The incumbent serves as clerical/administrative assistant to the Area Engineer, Administrative Officer, and to principal members of the management staff at the Soo Area Office.

Duties
Performs a variety of clerical and day-to-day administrative duties required to accomplish the work of the Area Office. Receives on the job training..
Sets up and maintains various office files in accordance with applicable regulations. Sets up and maintains various logs, records, suspense dates/deadlines, references, and working files.
Collects and compiles statistical data for reports, records, etc.extracting data from documents and posting some to worksheets or other records. As required, prepares recurring and special charts, graphs, and narratives by compiling information from office files, logs, and information supplied by others, as required.
Receives, reviews and screens incoming Executive Office mail. Determines significance of each item, screens those items which can be acted upon personally and takes appropriate action.
Receives visitors and phone calls Establishes the nature and importance of each contact, and refers it to the appropriate person after considering the subject and/or the availability of response personnel.
Uses word processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, make insertions or
deletions, or move material from one place to another.
Uses computer word-processing software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, make insertions or deletions, move material from one place to another, store, retrieve, and/or print a variety of standardized documents using a glossary of prerecorded templates/formats, form letters, standard paragraphs, etc.
