Duties
This is a full-time, TEMPORARY (not-to-exceed August 7, 2017) position. This appointment may be renewed for additional service in accordance with Agency needs. Temporary positions do not offer health or life insurance benefits and may be terminated at any time before the expiration date. The appointment to a temporary position does not confer eligibility for promotion or reassignment to other positions or the ability to be non-competitively converted to permanent employment.
This position is located in the Medicine Service Line at the Tomah VA Medical Center, Tomah, WI serving as a Non-VA Care Coordinator and works collaboratively with the patient care teams, as well as, a variety of specialty health care provides. Major duties and responsibilities include:

This position is located in the Medicine Service Line at the Tomah VA Medical Center, Tomah, WI serving as a Non-VA Care Coordinator and works collaboratively with the patient care teams, as well as, a variety of specialty health care provides. Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Provides administrative support to clinicians and other administrative and professional staff for purposes of coordinating non-VA medical care for Veterans when inpatient, outpatient, and VA providers have deemed such care necessary;
- Acts as liaison between the Veteran and the vendor with regard to clinical and/or primary care services;
- Obtains reports, x-rays, labs and any pertinent information required for consults;
- Updates and verifies demographic information and insurance information;
- Provides scheduling and appointment coordination for diagnostic testing, and consultative appointments;
- Reviews and determines veteran's eligibility for specialty programs;
- Ensures all necessary components and documentation is distributed to appropriate services.
- Generates authorizations for pre-authorized medical care;
- Operates computer systems and applications;
- Utilizes database to manage and coordinate appointments;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
