Summary

About the Agency

The selectee for this position will serve as a Legal Assistant in the Pentagon Joint Legal Assistance Office (PJLAO) of RLSO NDW WASHINGTON DC.

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

• You will maintain a centralized appointment calendar for attorneys.
• You will schedule appointment for reserve attorneys.
• You will check clients in for legal appointments
• You will draft and execute both general and special powers of attorney (POAs)
• You will prepare subpoenas and discovery, document case dispositions, close completed case files and maintain the Special Assistant Unites States Attorney (SAUSA) Program tracker.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining a centralized appointment calendar and scheduling appointments; deconflicting attorney and client schedules. 2) Creating case files and utilizing Will worksheets, Dual Representation Forms, and Remote Appointment Authorizations. 3) Answering phones and responding to all messages. 4) Providing notary assistance, drafting Power of Attorney (POAs), preparing subpoenas and discovery, and legal assistance services 5) assembling and mailing correspondence, filing and retrieving files, assist with ordering supplies.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
