Summary

About the Agency

This position is located in the Control Center, Division of Protection Services, of the U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM). The Control Center consists of electronic, computer and digital based video monitoring, access control, and radio dispatching systems used for providing building security, fire protection, and staff communications at the USHMM.

Duties

You will serve as a Security Assistant operating and monitoring a Museum-wide security and access control system consisting of card access readers/sensors and cameras located throughout the USHMM. This includes the monitoring of all security related communications, Museum alarms and a computer based fire alarm system to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.

In your role as a Security Assistant, you will work in an environment that can be extremely busy and at times, highly stressful. You will be responsible for managing radio traffic and monitoring video images, with the responsibility for coordinating appropriate response for medical, criminal and other hazardous incidents that may occur. This could include but would not be limited to, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services response to the Museum.

• This position requires continuous personnel coverage of the Control Center

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualification requirements for the position by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position of Security Assistant.

For consideration for the GS 06 level - To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to 52 weeks of directly related experience at the GS-05 level.

For consideration for the GS-07 level - To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to 52 weeks of directly related experience at the GS-06 level.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary, but some walking, stooping, climbing of ladders may be required to inspect both interior and exterior areas where physical security systems are located.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an enclosed area that is well lighted, air conditioned, heated, and well ventilated and accessible only through locked doors. High security conditions do not allow social contacts with anyone other than authorized personnel to the Control Center. Frequent visits may be required to other parts of the Museum or Administration Building.
