The incumbent serves as a Pharmacy Technician - Procurement for the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Incumbent has the responsibility for stock control for all items of medications, chemicals, medical supplies and all expendable miscellaneous operational supplies utilized by all Inpatient, Outpatient and Satellite Pharmacies.

Duties
The incumbent serves as a Pharmacy Technician - Procurement for the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Incumbent has the responsibility for stock control for all items of medications, chemicals, medical supplies and all expendable miscellaneous operational supplies utilized by all Inpatient, Outpatient and Satellite Pharmacies. The incumbent performs clerical or technical supply support work necessary to ensure the effective operation of ongoing supply activities. Duties consist of pharmaceutical and supply order initiations, receiving shipments of goods, assuring compliance with storage requirements, inventory control through perpetual analysis, fund control, liaison with company representatives and managerial staff for financial status reports and presentation.
Incumbent has operational responsibility for all ongoing inventories of drug products and pharmaceutical supplies and their procurement. The incumbent utilizes basic accounting and budgetary skills to assure inventories are maintained in the most cost-effective manner. Assures all purchases are within the pharmacy service budget. The incumbent will prepare, control, and review procurement documents and reports. The incumbent will contact vendors to obtain status of orders and expedite delivery when required and resolve a variety of shipment, payment, or other discrepancies. Functions as resource person to all members of the pharmacy staff regarding inventory status and control.
