About the Position:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Test Administrator for the Military Entrance Processing Station. Part of our commitment is to ensure that applicants have a clear understanding of what this position entails to then determine if it is the right fit for them before they apply.

This position is not full-time; it is intermittent. In an intermittent position, the work schedule will be flexible and the employee will be called in to duty as needed. This position will not directly lead to a full-time position, and you will be paid only for the actual hours worked.

Benefits are limited: Intermittent employees are eligible for participation in the Federal Employee Retirement Plan (FERS) as well as the Thrift Savings Plan. They are NOT eligible to enroll in health, dental, vision or life insurance plans with this position, nor paid vacation or sick days. In certain situations, based on law, variations to benefits entitlements apply to current Federal employees allowing them to carry over health, dental, vision or life insurance plans.

There will be frequent daily travel: The Test Administrator will be based out of a single centralized location listed in this announcement; however, the incumbent will be expected to drive around this location as well as to surrounding locations to perform their duties.
Duty Location(s): New Brunswick, NJ and Flemington, NJ

Duties

As a Test Administrator, you will administrator written tests to individuals wishing to enter the military in the local commuting area of the locations being recruited for in this announcement and up to a 100 mile radius when necessary, using own vehicle to transport test material.  Maintain security and inventory of test materials.

Must reside within the local commuting area or travel to the commuting area at own expense.  Some work may be performed from your residence prior to arrival at the test site.  Requires early morning travel and extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting.  Must be able to carry 1 to 5 cases of test materials each weighing an average of 10 to 35 pounds to and from examination locations.

• A Valid State Driver's License is required.
• Work is on an intermittent "as needed basis".

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required:  Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.  General experience is defined as:  Progressively responsible clerical or office administration experience. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).
OR
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION:  To qualify based on education, applicants must possess one of the following:
Two years of higher education above High School. (NOTE: This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify based on a combination of education and experience, applicants must have successfully completed some higher education above High school level and experience. (The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent). Note: Transcripts MUST be submitted with your application if qualifying with education.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

• Customer Service Skills           
• Knowledge of Test Administrator Procedures
• Ability to Perform Office Administration Duties
• Ability to Manage Resources

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

 Two years of education above the high school level.
OR
Some general experience but less than one year, and less than 2 years of post high school study.

NOTE: Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency in order to be considered for this position. Please include this information with your application package.
