Duties

Summary

This position is located in the Division of Museum Services at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Division protects and strengthens the core and impact of the living memorial by managing the Museum's visitor services, group scheduling, volunteer and intern services, and providing related support to other Museum units as needed.

Responsibilities

This position is that of a Visitor Services Representative providing Museum orientation and information on Museum exhibitions to visitors, enabling them to acquire knowledge about the Holocaust by better utilizing the many resources and learning aids through the public areas of the Museum. In support of these functions, the incumbent performs various assignments in daily Museum floor operations, including assisting with the logistics of opening and closing the Museum, working the Pass Desk, the Groups Desk, the Information Desk, the three Passenger Elevators granting access to the Permanent Exhibit, the Wexner Learning Center, various rover positions and Coat Check.

Qualifications

GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level.

-OR- 4 years of successfully completed education above high school in any field. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

-OR- combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and experience.

Specialized experience for this position is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and related to the duties described in the vacancy announcement.

Applicants must meet all qualification requirements for the position by the closing date of this announcement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: The Visitor Services Representatives are occasionally required to perform bending, stretching and moderate lifting activities of objects ranging from boxes of publications, stanchions, and tables and chairs; weights lifted generally range from 10 to 50 pounds.

If selected for the position, you are required to undergo a pre-employment physical examination using the SF-78 "Certificate of Medical Examination" form. You must be able with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform the physical requirements considered essential for successful performance of this position. All costs associated with the pre-employment examination will be paid by the Agency. Refusal to be examined or failure to meet physical requirements for the position will be considered as a declination. In addition, if you are a compensable veteran, you must provide a copy of your VA rating certificate (medical determination, including percentage, nature and extent of disability) in advance.
