Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
The position requires frequent handling of objects weighing 10 to 15 pounds, and occasionally handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds without the assistance of lifting devices. The work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing up and down ladders and scaffolding, and pulling and pushing, at various stages of assignment, to assemble and install assemblies and models.
Noise, smoke, and other factors make working conditions poor sometimes. Incumbent may be exposed to cuts, bruises, and slight burns due to constant work with moving machinery and sharp materials. Due to cutting all types of materials and the use of coolant and cutting oils, there is danger of skin irritation. The tasks may involve discomfort while wearing protective equipment.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Ability to perform the work of a Model Maker WG-4714-14 including experience performing Model Maker tasks, under normal supervision which includes: Planning, laying out, fabricating and modifying models made of a variety of materials; plan, construct and assemble complete models without detailed instructions or close past precedents; identifying design flaws and suggest corrective measures; checking finished parts to ensure they operate efficiently and meet high standards of workmanship in appearance and finish.
