These positions are located within the National Park Service, Pacific West Region at Joshua Tree National Park, in the Trails Maintenance Division.

These are Full-Time temporary position not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Positions may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Joshua Tree National Park is November through May, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: November 2017.
This job announcement is open to receive applications from the first 50 applicants. The job announcement will remain open until either the quota of 50 applicants, or 10/17/17 is reached. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for the possibility of rehire in subsequent service years. This appointment is limited to 1039 hours in a service year and cannot be extended beyond 1039 hours in that service year.

Performs trails maintenance duties such as constructing and maintaining trails and related structures such as water bars, rock steps, retaining walls, drainage structures and bridges. Duties for this position may also include: maintaining trail surface by adding, grading and compacting surface materials such as dirt, gravel, etc. using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, axes, etc.; building drainage structures to re-route drainage water flow from trails, signage repair and replacement.
Other duties for this position may include: performing minor carpentry tasks, constructing rock walls, performing preventative maintenance such as changing oil and cleaning air filters on equipment.Travel Required
Occasional travel - May be required to camp overnight in Park up to 10 days per month.Supervisory status
