About the Position:
In this position you will serve as a Security Assistant within the Security Office of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Geospatial Center in Alexandria, VA.
In this position you will perform the following duties that include:
Serve as a Intrusion Detection System (IDS) Operator at the AGC Guard Post.
Monitor the operation of two Security Monitoring and Display Systems consisting of several indicators and dispatches patrols.
Operate communication network maintaining communications with patrol units and directing actions in routine and emergency situations in the facility complex.
Maintain and account for visitor badges issued to military and civilian personnel, contractor personnel, and visitors requiring entry.
Maintain appropriate automated and manual registers to track badges.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.
Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
This is a Career Program (CP) 19 position.
Conditions of Employment
This position has been designated as non-critical sensitive as defined in DoD 5200.2-R. The incumbant is required to possess or obtain and maintain for the duration of employment, a Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Serving as a intrusion detection system (IDS) operator at a guard post, monitoring the operation of security monitoring and display systems, maintaining and accounting for visitor badges issued and performing spot checks to control the misuse or unauthorized use of badges and electronic access cards and maintaining communication with patrol units and directing actions in routine and emergency situations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-04
Typing Requirement: This position requires you to be a qualified typist, typing at least 40 words per minute (WPM) with three (3) or fewer errors based on a five [5] minute sample
