This position is located in the Office of Fellowships and Internships (OFI), Smithsonian Institution. The employee provides administrative support for the Program Manager and Program Specialist(s) in the administration of programs and information dissemination related to the Institution’s research and training opportunities including internships, fellowships, and other scholarly appointments. Responsibilities
•Collects, assembles, prepares and disseminates information about Smithsonian research, fellowship, internship and grant programs including updating webpages.
•Coordinates space and other requirements to support 15 different review committees for fellowship, internship and Scholarly Studies programs, ensuring committee access to appropriate pool of applicants on Smithsonian On-Line Academic Application system (SOLAA). Maintains records of review committee members, applicants and appointees, and assists in corresponding with them on related committee matters.
•Utilizes word processing, database and spreadsheet software to collect, update, evaluate and reconcile information; create of tables and charts; and assess and revise reporting methods, procedures and formats. Corresponding with members of the public, Smithsonian staff and recipients of Smithsonian academic appointments.

Qualifications
Experience:
You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position specialized experience is defined as experience assisting indeveloping publicity materials, articles, and websites; composing correspondence, reports, and memoranda; using routine automated office equipment, database management, and social media; purchasing office supplies, maintaining property inventory, routing inbound and outbound mail, planning meetings and conferences and maintaining office files.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
