• Summary

  The selectee for this position will serve as an Information Technology Specialist (APPSW) in the Information Systems Technology Directorate of Navy Systems Management Activity.

  Responsibilities

  The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
  

  • Perform developmental assignments under close supervision.
  • Serve as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist in a formal training program.
  • Work with technical and functional personnel of higher grade or individually perform productive work projects of limited difficulty.

  Requirements:
  
  Generally, current Federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade.   A security clearance is a requirement of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal.   Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment.   Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  

  Qualifications

  In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.   GS-05 - Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
  
  GS-07 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing customer support services, customer assistance or assisting with customer training; diagnosing and resolving basic problems in response to customer reported incidents; and providing customer support feedback. My experience in the information technology field has equipped me with skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
  
  OR
  
  A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management with superior academic achievement, and my education has equipped me with the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
  
  OR
  
  One full year of graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
