Responsibilities
This position is located in the Department of Program Services (DPS), Court Services Office (CSO), Programs Division (PD), Central Violations Bureau (CVB) located in San Antonio, Texas. The CVB processes federal violation notices issued to defendants by federal law enforcement officers and provides support services for U.S. magistrate judges, clerk's office staff and federal law enforcement agencies nationwide. The CVB also assists federal law enforcement agencies with technical support of electronic access to the CVB data base. Primary responsibilities of this position are data entry.
The incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to:
Data entry of violation notices and fines received from issuing agencies and other payments into an automated case-tracking and processing system;
Preparing, reconciling and forwarding court dockets to the appropriate Judicial office for those cases where the defendant requests a court hearing in lieu of paying a fine, or where court appearance is mandatory;
Answering telephone inquiries regarding pending and closed cases, payment information and other related matters from defendants, issuing agency personnel and federal judges;
Utilizing WordPerfect to prepare routine and non-routine correspondence in response to inquiries; and
Maintaining close liaison with issuing agency personnel, federal law enforcement officers and federal judges and their staff.

A background security investigation is required for all selectees. Appointment will be subject to a successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements may be grounds for appropriate personnel action. A background security reinvestigation or supplemental investigation may be required at a later time.
All new AO employees must identify a financial institution for direct deposit of pay before appointment.
You will be required to serve a trial period if selected for a first-time appointment to the Federal government, transferring from another Federal agency, or serving as a first-time supervisor. Failure to successfully complete the trial period may result in termination of employment.
If appointed to a temporary position, management may have the discretion of converting the position to permanent depending upon funding and staffing allocation.
Relocation expenses may be provided, but only if authorized by the Director of the AO.
The selectee of this position may be assigned to an official duty station outside the advertised area.
Qualifications
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience directly related to performing data entry, working with customers, answering phones, and solving customer problems.
Selective Factor: The person selected for this position will possess the following: The ability to type at least 75 words per minute with an error rate of less than 1%; (A typing certification must be included to verify typing speed); and experience in a high volume call center.
Desired, but NOT Required: Experience working in a legal environment and an understanding of legal terminology.
