Summary
About the Position: Located in the scenic Hudson River Valley, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution, a nationally-renowned historic site, and the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. The undergraduates, known as cadets, are commissioned as officers in the US Army upon graduation. You can watch them on parade or competing as intercollegiate athletes in a wide range of sports events. As a military installation, West Point is a small, self-contained city with housing for the military stationed here in support of the Academy, a Department of Public Works to maintain the roads, grounds and facilities, two libraries (Academic and Community), a military hospital, fire department, chapels, restaurants. West Point's 3,000 civilian employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premiere performing arts center, and to recreational facilities such as an 18-hole golf course. The primary purpose of this position is to provide clerical, administrative, budgeting, supply and automation support to the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, in the Office of the Dean. Track funds of
department to ensure funding is available for various department transactions. Maintain files supporting documentation of department transactions for audit purposes. Provide advice and furnish travel information and
arrangements to department employees.
Qualified typist with a minimum of 40 words per minute.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience defined: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Specialized Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job at the (GS-05) level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. Specialized experience that includes: Conducting clerical duties to type correspondence, maintain office files, and utilize office software/systems to complete duties.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Education:
At least (6) six months of graduate education directly related to the work of the position. (Please Note: You MUST include a copy of your transcripts.) OR
Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your number of graduate-level semester hours (or equivalent) completed beyond the second year by 9 semester hours (or equivalent), add the two percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.)
