About the Position:
This position is located at the Missouri River Project Office for the Omaha District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, employs about 1,350 employees at projects and offices throughout a 700,000-square-mile area of the Missouri River Basin, from Rulo, Neb., to Fort Peck, Mont. The district office is located in downtown Omaha and is just blocks from the Missouri River and minutes from the city's wide array of parks, museums, historic sites, restaurants, recreation and entertainment venues such as Boys Town, the world-class Henry Doorly Zoo, and the College World Series. Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens
Duties
Perform various duties on floating platforms such as towboats, barges, and loading docks. Duties include handling lines and moorings to ensure that boats, barges or equipment are tied securely. The incumbent will make soundings, set gangplanks, and attach/remove hoisting and hook lines. Operate deck equipment such as power winches, water pumps, and cables. Paint surfaces of floating plant and working equipment. The incumbent will operate motor vehicles on land weighing 22,000 lbs or more, and operate motorboats up to 26 feet in length on rivers and lakes.
