Every day our Operations Support Assistants (OA) provide a variety of supply and warehouse support duties essential to the operation of the Service Center.

This position of OPERATIONS SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) starts at a salary of $32,844 GS-05 grade level, to $52,893 GS-07 grade level.

This vacancy announcement shows the location to be Saint Albans, VT; however, the Vermont Service Center has two locations, Saint Albans and Essex Junction, VT. The determination as to what location the position is assigned has not yet been made at this time.

This position is in the bargaining unit.
This position is not considered "essential" for purposes of reporting to work when the facility might otherwise be closed.
Relocation expenses are authorized if you are a USCIS employee assigned to the Refugee, Asylum and International Operations program and have been approved for rotation from an overseas assignment. Relocation expenses for USCIS employees assigned to an OCONUS location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.

As a OPERATIONS SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION), you will:
  • Monitor goods and services within a service center to include, preparing requisitions for purchase of goods, inputting financial data into asset management systems, and monitoring general expenses related to assigned area.
  • Conduct asset and fleet management activities within assigned area, including performing required inventories, managing excess property and maintaining fleet of government vehicles.
  • Collect financial data for budget requests and expenditure analysis, including maintaining financial data related to operational activities.
  • Manage and review requirements to ensure proper type and amount of supplies are available to support center need, coordinate supply requirements with management and review supply transactions based fiscal limitations.
  • Perform supply and warehousing duties such as unloading truck deliveries at an on-site dock location using standard warehouse equipment. This work may be physically demanding and require physical lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and climbing are required to move or relocate items, stock storage shelves, move or repair furniture items, etc. Ladders and lifts are frequently used to place or remove items from warehouse shelving. Use of forklift and other equipment is intermittent as needed and is estimated to average 10 % of the time overall.
