For the
GS-07 level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using the tools and equipment associated with the work of a Visual Information Specialist to assist in the design of museum exhibits and displays and assembling large exhibits. Duties performed include all of the following: 1) Assisting in planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; 2) Assisting in creating and planning museum exhibits including plans, elevations, three-dimensional digital models, concept drawings, and schematic designs; 3) Assisting in producing and maintaining a variety of exhibit products ranging from single tabletop displays to entire exhibit programs; and 4) Using professional exhibit design software (e.g., Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or Acrobat) to monitor the production and quality of graphic elements such as exhibit graphics and associated assets, posters, banners, illustrations, publications
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Have one full year of graduate level education or have
superior academic achievement with a major field of study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position (you must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application)
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of less than one year of graduate education with a major field of study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position and less than one year of specialized experience as described above, that when combined equal one full year, may be combined to meet the total GS-07 qualification requirements (you must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application).
For the
GS-09 level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade in the Federal Service, or equivalent experience in the public or private sector, using the tools and equipment associated with the work of a Visual Information Specialist to produce and maintain a variety of museum exhibit products ranging from single tabletop displays to entire exhibit programs, performing all of the following: 1) Planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; 2) Developing and maintaining visual content and museum exhibits using computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop and/or AutoCAD; 3) Working with a team to assist in planning, creating, editing and producing museum exhibits including conceptual design, scripts, art work, etc.; and 4) Advising on the kinds of material and equipment used to design museum exhibits (e.g., Sintra, lighting and hand and power tools)
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree, LL.B, J.D., or have completed two full years of graduate level education, with a major field of study of commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position (you must submit your college transcripts with your application)
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of more than one but less than two years of graduate education with a major field of study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position and less than one year of specialized experience as described above, that when combined equal one full year, may be combined to meet the total GS-09 qualification requirements (you must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application).
