Duties

On a daily basis dusts, polishes furniture and makes bed. Cleans, sanitizes and/or deodorizes bathrooms and kitchen areas. On daily basis counts and sorts linen removed from individual rooms, along with clean linen issued during assigned shift. Incumbent will inform supervisor immediately of any missing, malfunctioning or damaged items in room, common areas or any valuables left out in the open by guests. Incumbent may be required to clean lobbies, passageways, stairwells, laundry rooms, public restrooms and other common use areas in and around building.  Responsibilities include consistently monitoring areas for problems, unreported vacancies, and unusual activity that is in violation of policy. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must be able to apply general knowledge of cleaning procedures and proper use of cleaning equipment and approved, commonly used chemicals (including MSDS) and adherence to basic safety policies is required. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests.   This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background check and/or National Agency Check (NAC) in accordance with NAVFAC policy. The incumbent is expected to work towards and obtain certification in housekeeping.



Must have ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment weighting up to 45 pounds is required. Maybe required to climb/descend stairs and properly placed stepladders.
