This recruitment will be used to fill a temporary position. This appointment is not to exceed 1039 hours in a twelve month period, although it may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs.
This position is located at Navajo National Monument located near Shonto, Arizona in the northeastern part of the state.
Duties
Provide administrative and clerical support for Navajo National Monument via the following duties: provide general information and direct visitors and employees to appropriate personnel for specific information; serve as timekeeper; perform and/or oversee supply functions including incoming supplies, materials and equipment; maintain park's property inventory; prepare hiring packages or similar. Also perform other duties as assigned. Use various computer and office software and equipment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work requires sitting at a desk, standing, bending, reaching, walking and lifting. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed primarily in an office setting but may also be performed out in the field. AREA INFORMATION/HOUSING INFORMATION: Navajo National Monument headquarters is located on a remote sandstone plateau in northeastern Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation at an elevation of about 7,300 feet. The upland area is semi-arid with pinion and juniper forests and associated semi-desert plants and animals with isolated pockets of alpine timber in nearby canyons. Deep canyons originated near each separated unit of the Monument where well preserved ancestral Pueblo cliff dwellings are found. Daytime temperatures range from 85 - 95 degrees Fahrenheit during the Summer and from 25 -35 degrees Fahrenheit in the Winter. Limited shopping and medical facilities are available in Kayenta, Arizona which is approximately 35 miles from the Monument. Major shopping, medical and dental facilities are located in Farmington, New Mexico and Flagstaff, Arizona which are both approximately 150 miles from the Monument.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement, Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sectors. QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for this position, you must possess the qualifying specialized experience and/or education as described in the occupational/assessment questionnaire and as outlined below. GS-05
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service OR four years of education above high school OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education. Specialized Experience: Is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to, inputting payroll; tracking and managing property; purchasing supplies; typing correspondence, memos, reports and forms from rough drafts and notes; answering phone calls and filing. Your experience should be in more than one of the listed functions. Education: Successful completion of four years of education above high school in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. Combination: An equivalent combination of specialized experience and education, as noted above, can qualify you for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 hours beyond the second year is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to six months of specialized experience.

Requirements1.National Park Service (NPS) uniformed position. Employee will be required to wear a uniform and comply with NPS uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided to defray the cost of the uniform.
2. Applicants must possess a valid state drivers license. This position requires that you operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. A valid state drivers license is required.
