The selectee for this position serves as a Technician in the EOD Department; Acquisition and Technology Division; Process SME, Concept, Realization, Innovation and Prototyping Office  of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head EOD Technology Division (NSWC IHEODTD) in Indian Head, MD.

Duties

Your duties as a Technician will include but are not limited to:
·         Recommending design changes for manufacturing issues that may include providing justification to management to meet future manufacturing requirements.
·         Providing alternate design approaches to resolve complex problems.
·         Planning the methods of fabrication and performing detailed dimensional design.
·         Attending development meetings or design reviews to participate as technical consultant in multiple fields, e.g. engineering design, explosive effects, material properties, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
·         Providing cost and schedule estimates based on consultation with the design engineer.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03, (GS-9/10 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.  Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting with the research and development of prototype tools or equipment.

Required to handle weights not over 50 pounds. Hand tools and objects weighing up to 10 pounds are the average weights carried. The necessary equipment and personnel are usually available to handle heavy objects. The work requires occasional sitting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing ladders, awkward work positions, climbing stairways, and long periods of standing.
Exposed to moving objects, elevations, toxic fumes and sharp edges. Possible injuries range from cuts, bruises, and burns to the loss of eyes and fingers.
Work Environment: Occasionally required to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Also, occasionally they must work for several hours in dirt, noise, poor illumination, unpleasant odors, dampness, and extremely hot environments.
