This position is located at Navy Gateway Inns and Suites, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Me.Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Front Desk Associate.

Duties

The purpose if the work is to provide front desk services.  The work directly contributes to the military members, retirees, civilians and family member's quality of life, mission readiness and contributes to job satisfaction and retention of valuable members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Checks authorized guests into the Navy Gateway Inn/Suites, obtaining a copy of each guest’s orders, verifying length of stay and other pertinent information. Provides guest with key or key card and directions to their accommodations. Maintains registration records as required. Acts as receptionist, including receiving reservation request by phone, in person, via fax and by electronic mail. Receives and is accountable for a revolving change fund. Accepts payments for room and phone charges. Prepares a variety of reports and logs.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Preferred 6 months of work experience that demonstrates knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, and regulations related to hospitality operations. Must be skilled in the use of a personal computer and various software programs. Must be possess basic math and reading skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to handle, control, and account for large amounts of cash.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Requirements include extended periods of standing; walking and lifting/carrying objects up to 30 pounds. This position may be designated ALPHA personnel. This position is subject to the possibility of working on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours. The incumbent is required to obtain a front desk certification or industry equivalent within 6 months of employment, as well as, any other requirements outlined in the Lodging Career Path Guide.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each pition held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
