Duties
This position is assigned to the Mobile Care Unit of Guest Relations Service at the VA New Jersey Healthcare System; there is one vacancy available at the East Orange campus and one vacancy available at the Lyons campus. The individual selected for this position is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of patients (to/from appointments) that are ambulatory, in wheelchairs, stretchers, medical beds, or other transport. Some of the main duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized
- Transport patients in the nursing home/inpatient wards to and from appointments
- Accurately annotate transport information
- Raise or lower stretchers, wheelchairs and medical beds to heights appropriate for transport
- Assist patients into escort equipment
- Assist and support the Nursing staff
- Answer dispatch requests through fax or phone calls
- May transport laboratory specimens when requested by supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
