The Superior Court of Justice requires a bilingual Juries System Clerk to provide customer service to Torontonians summoned for jury duty, to ensure the timely and accurate coordination and processing of information for the selection and payment of juries and other clerical duties related to jury operations.
• respond to telephone, email and public counter inquiries regarding jury duty and jury selections
• interview prospective jurors experiencing difficulty on their first day of jury duty
• coordinate and schedule start times for jury selections in courtrooms
• prepare attendance reports on a daily basis as information is received from court staff
• prepare and submit payment reports for jurors as legislated by the Juries Act into a computer system
• assist the court with arrangements in preparation for jury deliberations
• you have the ability to communicate tactfully, effectively, professionally and respectfully on sensitive and confidential issues
• you can update data from correspondence received from prospective jurors requesting deferral or excusal from jury duty for submission to the Provincial Jury Centre
• you have the ability to file correspondence from prospective jurors as well as requests from counsel for copies of jury panel lists
• you have mathematical skills to calculate the day and number of jurors to be paid
• you have the ability to prepare requests for financial payments and cheque printouts
• you have the ability to interpret and apply relevant statutes and legislation (e.g. the Juries Act and the Criminal Code) to assess requests and advise prospective jurors regarding exemptions and deferrals

How do I qualify?
Mandatory:
• you are proficient in English as well as oral and written French at the advanced levelCommunication and Interpersonal Skills:
• you have the ability to respond to inquiries from lawyers and members of the public related to the jury selection process• you have the ability to communicate tactfully, effectively, professionally and respectfully on sensitive and confidential issues
Computer and Clerical Skills:
• you are proficient in common office software such as word processing, spreadsheet and database software to prepare various reports• you can update data from correspondence received from prospective jurors requesting deferral or excusal from jury duty for submission to the Provincial Jury Centre
• you have the ability to file correspondence from prospective jurors as well as requests from counsel for copies of jury panel lists
Financial Skills:
• you have the ability to oversee and verify jury attendance reports and decipher financial implications• you have mathematical skills to calculate the day and number of jurors to be paid
• you have the ability to prepare requests for financial payments and cheque printouts
Technical Knowledge and Experience:
• you have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of the SCJ courtroom procedures and the jury selection process in the province of Ontario• you have the ability to interpret and apply relevant statutes and legislation (e.g. the Juries Act and the Criminal Code) to assess requests and advise prospective jurors regarding exemptions and deferrals
