Duties

AS 01 (Stream1): Provides administrative services, support and advice in one functional area in a National Office or field unit corporate services unit.

CR04 (Stream 2): Provides clerical and administrative/operational support services and related information/guidance, typically in support of a specific function or a program area in a field unit.

Work environment

The Georgian Bay & Eastern Ontario Field Unit encompasses three national parks, a national marine park, and over one dozen national historic sites including forts, lighthouses and historic homes. With over 200 employees (seasonal and full time) working from eight locations, the field unit ranges from Tobermory in the west to the Quebec border in the east. It is a rich and diverse field unit dedicated to protecting Canada's natural, historical and cultural treasures and presenting them for others to enjoy.

The Georgian Bay and Ontario East Field Unit is seeking to develop a pool of clerical and administrative support across the field unit. These positions may support operations managers at key times, as well as functional area managers and their teams. Individuals selected may receive cross training to support any of the following: Financial Services, Human Resources or the Field Unit Superintendent’s office.

This poster is in anticipation of known, immediate needs and upcoming needs of various terms that are not finalized at this time. If you wish to be considered for any and all CR-04 or AS-01 positions in the upcoming year in GBOEFU, you are encouraged to apply at this time. • Experience in the use of various software programs such as: Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint
• Experience providing service to clients by telephone, in person or in writing
• Experience in maintaining electronic or hard copy filing systems
Stream 1:
• Experience providing advice and guidance to management/supervisor

• Experience in applying acts, regulations or policies

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Stream 1 & 2:
• Graduation from post-secondary education (minimum of 2 year program)
Degree equivalency
Experience:
Stream 1 & 2:
• Recent* experience performing duties such as administrative, clerical and reception such as but not limited to managing a calendar, planning or coordinating meetings, managing correspondence
• Experience using Parks Canada financial and travel software
• Experience in scheduling and organizing travel arrangements and submitting claims
• Experience in performing financial support functions (e.g. cashing and registering funds, managing petty cash, verifying or preparing invoices, etc.)
• Experience providing Human Resources support and/or experience using Human Resources Information Systems

Recent* experience is defined as 1 year (consecutive or non-consecutive) gained in the past 2 years
Stream 1:
• Experience preparing documents such as letters, memoranda, briefing notes or reports
• Experience providing support in procurement activities
• Experience providing administrative support to a manager, a Director and/or a senior manager such as drafting and assembling correspondence, processing travel claims, organizing and/or coordinating regional meetings/conferences/information sessions/events, coordinating Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests, etc.
