  • Summary

    The incumbent is responsible for Logistics activities related to furniture warehousing and receiving services provide by the CAO. Major duties include but are not limited to: warehousing; receiving; physical inventory; transporting; and inventory controls of furniture, furnishings, and other related items. This position does not have supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform basic furniture construction with professionalism and respect to the finishing process, in preparation for the finishing shop.

    • Perform quality repair on all types of furniture to include desks, cabinets, chairs, sofas, etc. in the shop and onsite.

    • Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and written specifications to mark dimensions, estimate the quantities and sizes (measurements) of material needed for furniture construction.

    1) Warehousing / Receiving, Disposal

    • Perform activities associated with warehousing receiving and disposal of furniture and furnishings items, including daily staging for deliveries and disposal in addition to warehouse/storage operations for onsite and offsite House locations in an efficient and effective manner that results in providing timely disposition.

    • Physically receive, move, inventory, and tag all furniture and furnishings, ensuring items are traceable from the receipt and delivery to their primary location(s).

    • Prepare and assemble furniture and furnishing items for delivery or storage.

    • Operate House-owned vehicles and other relevant equipment in a prudent manner that adheres to CAO safety and maintenance policy and procedure guidelines.

    • Preform activities associated with the furniture inventory controls to confirm and/or reclassify House owned property.

    2) Customer Service and Outreach

    • Support all transactions comprehensively to ensure they are processed within the service level agreement as set forth by the Office of Logistics.

    • Follow all safety procedures and carefully store, receive, process, and transport furniture, furnishings, and other related items to and/or from House office buildings.

    • Safeguard all House property to ensure it is handled carefully to prevent damage and report any and all discrepancies, problems and mishaps to the Supervisor immediately.

    • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with key stakeholders and customers.

    • Ensure Logistics Customer Service policy and procedures are followed.

    3) Reporting and Analysis

    • Prepare and provide documents and analysis supporting daily work activities, results, and other issues to Supervisor as required.

    • Determine possible solutions to operational problems that arise in Receiving and Warehousing Group and present recommendations to management for consideration.

    • Provide results and status reports on assigned projects to Supervisor.

    • Open, process and close work tickets as assigned in the Remedy database system per Logistics Service Level Agreements.

    4) Workforce planning and development

    • Prioritize professional development plans, goals, and objectives.

    • Develop goals that are aligned with overall organizational goals, and ensure achievement of goals is designed toward continuous improvement and best practices.

    • Successfully complete and apply all assigned training required to perform work assignments. Performs other official duties as assigned.
