Responsibilities
This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-07. At the GS-06 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-07. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds.
This position is responsible for the management and administration of the Fargo VA Healthcare System credentialing utilizing VetPro, Duty Location, Fargo, ND. The employee in this position monitors program compliance with medical center and Network goals and coordinates actions with other Human Resources Specialist and Supervisors. The position is located within Human Resources Management Service (HRMS) and is under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Human Resources Staffing Specialist. Your duties can include but are not limited to the following:
Manages and administers a credentialing program for a health care facility;
Monitors program compliance;
Interprets credentialing program requirements and develops measures for implementation;
Enters credentialing data, assists employees and applicants in completing data entry and reviews for accuracy;
Meets with employees, explains and answers questions relevant to the credentialing program and troubleshooting concerns;
Utilizes several office automation software packages within a human resources setting.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required
Designated and/or random drug testing may be required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
May be required to serve a probationary period.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is primarily sedentary and requires no special physical abilities. It may involve some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and conferences and to conduct human resources work. The regular and recurring work involves extensive computer usage, sitting at a desk, attending meetings and frequent interruptions in person and on the telephone. Keen hearing and distinct speech are essential due to the extensive use of the telephone as a means of communication. May be a certain amount of mental strain due to time constraints, workload demands and frequent reviews and surveys by internal and external entities. The work is performed in a typical office setting with adequate heat, light and ventilation. Everyday risks require normal safety precautions.
Participation in seasonal influenza program may be required.
Qualifications
GS-6: Candidates must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Human Resources Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience includes: Managing and administering a credentialing program for a health care facility; Monitoring program compliance; Interpreting credentialing program requirements and developing measures for implementation; Entering credentialing data, assisting employees and applicants in completing data entry and reviewing for accuracy; Meeting with employees, explaining and answering questions relevant to a credentialing program and troubleshooting concerns; Utilizing several office automation software packages within a human resources setting.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
