The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) provides a variety of benefits and services to service members, veterans and their families. The VBA has been undergoing a major transformation that is people-centric, results-oriented and forward-looking, and which includes integration of solutions that will ensure total lifelong engagement with service members, veterans and their families.

This position is located in the Denver Human Resource Center - Lakewood, CO.
As a Human Resources Assistantfor the Veteran Benefits Administration you will:
- Provides technical support in recruitment and staffing activities;
- Reviews personnel requests submitted to determine the nature of staffing action and source of candidates (merit promotion, special placement programs, etc.);
- Explains how Veterans' preference affects the selection process; consults with selectee for commitments and releasing offices to set enter-on-duty (EOD) dates;
- Makes written and verbal offers of employment and confirms dates using standard letters;
- Notifies candidates of selection and obtains release dates and enters data on personnel request forms and coding sheet for data input;
- Maintains merit promotion files including establishment of vacancy announcements; prepares vacancy announcements; prepares a certificate of eligibles; prepares notices of selected and non-selected candidates; answers questions from applicants and operating officials regarding the status of vacancy announcements; and checks for timeliness and completeness of necessary forms;
- Initiates a full range of personnel actions;
- Processes applications and forms for benefit transactions and explains features of employee benefit programs; and
- Uses electronic systems consisting of hardware and software components in an office environment to store, retrieve, manipulate, transfer, compute and/or print information
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.Travel Required
