Last week at the AHCA/NCAL 68th Annual Convention and Expo in Las Vegas, attendees had the opportunity to learn about caregivers, residents, activities, and other significant events occurring over the past year within the long term and post-acute care profession through a series of videos. These videos – which were featured during the Opening and Closing general sessions and Quality Awards Ceremony – show just how committed our members are to delivering solutions for the best quality care.

We encourage you to take a moment and learn about each. They include:

• Perspectives: Nursing – Meet Patricia Ebanks, BSN, RN from Okeechobee Health Care Facility in Florida. She is dedicated to a life of nursing, her family, and continuing education.
  
• Advocacy in 2017 – Learn what AHCA/NCAL members did to protect Medicaid for millions of long term care residents and patients this year.
  
• Intergenerational Programming – Learn how Golden Oaks, an assisted living community in Stillwater, OK, attached a pre-kindergarten class to bring seniors and children together.
  
• Policymakers – Policymakers have been talking about skilled nursing centers a lot in 2017, especially around efforts to protect Medicaid. Hear what they have to say.
  
• Hurricane Heroes – Harvey and Irma were the most intense hurricanes to hit Texas and Florida in many years. During these storms, caregivers at skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities in affected areas made selfless sacrifices to make sure residents and patients were safe. Listen to their stories.
  
• AHCA Quality Progress – The American Health Care Association (AHCA), chaired by Neil L. Pruitt, Jr. in 2012, launched the Quality Initiative, a multi-year effort to continue to improve quality of care in America’s skilled nursing care centers. The profession’s ongoing efforts have improved the lives of the individuals AHCA members serve.  In this video, Pruitt, Chairman and CEO of PruittHealth based in Norcross, Georgia, and Janet Snipes, Executive Director of Holly Heights Nursing Center in Denver, Colorado, shine a spotlight on member progress.
