Summary
This vacancy is for an Adminstrative Specialist position in the Associate Director for Decennial Census Programs located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line – Suitland Station.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Administrative Specialist, GG-0301-07/09 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
This is a competitive temporary promotion opportunity not to exceed (NTE) 2 years. This temporary promotion may be extended or terminated earlier. At the conclusion of the temporary promotion, the employee will return to their position of record.
A probationary period may be required.
This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).
Conduct research and provide technical assistance on administrative related matters.
Assist with developing various administrative documents, reports and data for the Directorate's management and operational purposes.
Perform various administrative activities such as travel, personnel, and property management; and monitor time and attendance reporting.
Assist in the administration of human resource functions to include training, staffing and the preparation of personnel actions and related documents.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GG-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: providing assistance in the areas of accountable property management, awards, and employee training; utilizing and working with various HR systems; applying travel regulations in the completion of travel orders/vouchers and to verify accuracy and completeness; assisting with time and attendance administration; ordering supplies; updating and maintaining office files and records; and responding to inquiries regarding administrative policies and procedures.
OR
One full year of graduate level education; or superior academic achievement
For the GG-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: providing guidance and assistance in the areas of accountable property management, awards, and employee training; utilizing and working with various HR systems; applying travel regulations in the completion of travel orders/vouchers and to verify accuracy and completeness; providing guidance and performing activities relating to administering time and attendance; ordering supplies and processing procurement requests; updating and maintaining office files and records; providing guidance and performing activities related to safety regulations and records management; and responding to inquiries regarding administrative policies and procedures.
OR
Master’s or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
