Summary
These positions are temporary, have a Not-to-Exceed date and will be filled for up to 6 months. The appointment may also end early due to lack of work or funds.
These positions are located on a Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. The incumbent of this position provides leadership and guidance to students in a group living environment and provides practical counseling to students.

Incumbent serves as an assistant to the Dormitory Manager, providing on-site supervision of students to ensure a safe, healthy atmosphere.
Provides input in the planning of dormitory activities of students. Maintains order and discipline among students, observing and recording social behavior patterns to aid in counseling and or placement of students. Documents both positive and negative behavior traits.
Schedules, coordinates, and supervises work details, recreational and other group activities including making reservations, acquiring transportation, and other related arrangements and providing information concerning these activities. Assigns individual duties by establishing student work rosters on a rotating basis and ensuring that students adhere to assigned tasks. Provides leadership and direction to students in performing daily housekeeping duties, work details, physical training, recreation, hygiene, etc. Gives practical advice and counsel to students in order to assist in developing work skills.
Conducts various dorm meetings during absence of the supervisor to disseminate information to students, and provide guidance in such areas as group living problems. Facilities student group counseling sessions. Meets individually with students to discuss day-to-day problems encountered in residential living. Gives practical advice and counsel to students and proposes solutions to routine problems without imposing personal values. Performs other duties as assigned.
NOTE: This position is required to work swing shift and night shift when determined by the needs of the Center.
This position requires the selectee to obtain or possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the appropriate Endorsement(s) as required by the mission. This position is a Test Designated Position (TDP) under the Forest Service/Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Controlled Substances Testing Program. All applicants selected for this position will be required to submit to a pre-employment urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Incumbents of this position will be required to submit to a urinalysis on an ongoing random basis, after appointment as directed.Travel Required
