  WHAT DOES AN ADJUDICATOR DO? As an Adjudicator you will be responsible for conducting an examination of a person’s character or conduct over time, resulting in a favorable or unfavorable determination of their employment suitability, including eligibility for access to classified information, materials, areas, and to determine if a person should be retained or removed from Federal employment

  Responsibilities

  As an Adjudicator you will:
  

  • Review and evaluate reports of investigation, fingerprint results, and other background information in order to make suitability and national security adjudication determinations.
  • Analyze pertinent information and material facts to make an adjudication decision to grant staff like access to contractors.
  • Conduct additional research to obtain additional criminal history or other background information as necessary.

  If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

  Qualifications

  You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
  In addition to the above, you must meet the requirements described below:
  GS-07 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experiencefor this position includes: gathering information and analyzing a set of facts; reviewing and evaluating applications or background information; obtaining arrest information; developing recommendations to resolve issues; recommending adjudicative actions; and composing documents, reports and correspondence involving non-technical information. OR
  
  You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Superior Academic Achievement may be met by having a Bachelors degree, with one of the following: A GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses or those completed in the last 2 years of study, or a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for all courses in the major field of study or those courses in the major completed in the last 2 years of study, or rank in the upper one third of the class in the college, university, or major subdivision, or membership in a national honor society recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. OR
  
  1 academic year of graduate education in a field of study such as: criminal justice, security administration or another related field from an accredited college or university. OR
  
  You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
  
  GS-09 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: reviewing and evaluating criminal history fingerprint results and/or complete background investigations; conducting employment pre-screen determinations; recommending adjudicative actions; obtaining arrest disposition information; reviewing and evaluating suitability and security applications; composing documents, reports and correspondence involving technical information; and analyzing case information. OR
  You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master’s or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study such as: criminal justice, security administration, or other related field. OR
  
  2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a graduate degree in a field of study such as: criminal justice, security administration, or other related field from an accredited college or university. OR
  
  LL.B or JD if related. OR
  
  You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
  
  
  GS-11 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: reviewing and evaluating criminal history fingerprint results and/or completed background investigations; recommending and reviewing suitability adjudications or employment pre-screening determinations; obtaining arrest disposition information; composing detailed documents, correspondence and reports involving complex or technical information; and independently managing an inventory of adjudication assignments or employment pre-screen determinations. OR
  
  You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field of study such as: criminal justice, security administration, or other related field from an accredited college or university. OR
  
  3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree in a field of study such as: criminal justice, security administration, or other related field from an accredited college or university. OR
  
  You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
  
  For Grades 5THRU 11: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
  
  - The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or VolunteerService. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
  
  - To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume.
