• Summary

  This position is located at Fort McCoy, WI.
  Centered on 60,000 acres between Sparta and Tomah, WI. Used primarily as a military training center.
  PROGRAM: Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Child, Youth, & School Services (CYS)
  CYS recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers and their Families, by offering quality programs for children, youth, and students. CYS supports the Army Family covenant by reducing the conflict between mission readiness and parental responsibility.
  This position is located primarily within the Child Development Center (CDC) working with children 0-5 years of age.   Pay may be set between the bottom and top of the advertised rate. Credit may be given for NAF time in grade but most new appointees pay will be set at the bottom of the pay rate for each level.

  Responsibilities

  Helps establish a program environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trip outings and special events. Promotes and models safety, fitness, and health and nutrition practices. Assists in maintaining program participation data and completing required daily reports.

  Conditions of Employment:

  9. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
  10. Documentation of good mental and physical health and freedom from communicable disease.
  11. Successfully complete all required background checks to include a health screening. An annual health screening will be required throughout employment. All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
  12. Shift will include hours between 6:30 am through 5:15 pm. Occasional nights and weekends.
  NOTE: No person, regardless of circumstance, will be approved to provide child care services and/or approved for hire in positions designate as having regular and recurring contact with children if the background check discloses that the individual has been convicted for any of the following: a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim or a felony drug offense.
  

  Qualifications

  Qualifications must be clearly verifiable in your resume.
  Minimum Qualifications: Be 18 years of age and High School diploma or GED equivalent. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal). Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  Skill Level: In addition to the requirements listed above, three months experience and possess Army entry Level Training Certificate.
  OR
  Six months experience at least nine (9) semester hours college credits with course content directly related to the age group to which assigned.
  Target Level: In addition to the requirements listed under Skill level qualifications, 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus an associate degree or least 60 semester hours of college credit which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content directly related to the age group to which assigned
  OR
  A bachelor degree or at least 120 semester hours which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content as indicated above.
  OR
  Possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the age group of the position to which assigned: Child Development Associate Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential.
  Highly Preferred Criteria
  All answers to the highly preferred criteria must be demonstrated in your resume to get credit.
  -Previous work experience with children between the age of 6 weeks to 5 years
  
  Applicants meeting the qualifications for the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred FIRST to the selecting official.
  
  *NOTE: All course work MUST be related behavioral science. Generic introductory courses (such as Intro to Psych, Intro to Social, etc.) will not be counted. Courses in psychology, sociology, home economics, etc. must link to children/youth/adolescence. For more course information refer above to the listing of duties in FASCLASS.
  All required supporting education documents must be submitted at the time of application. Failure to submit proof of education will result in an ineligible rating.
