Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
As a REFUGEE OFFICER (SECURITY, VETTING, & PROGRAM INTEGRITY), you will:
As a REFUGEE OFFICER (SECURITY, VETTING, & PROGRAM INTEGRITY), you will:
- Assist with the revision of and coordinate SVPI-related operations, policies, procedures, guidance, and other requirements to various stakeholders within RAD, RAIO, FDNS, and external parties across inter-agency communities for National Security and program integrity related Refugee adjudications.
- Review applications for refugee status to determine benefit eligibility; review and adjudicate requests for review of final determinations, and conduct interviews of applicants to determine eligibility to the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program.
- Maintain a current and working knowledge of country conditions pertinent to refugee populations and countries that are relevant to the applications being adjudicated. Interpret and provide advice and guidance on Immigration, Nationality and other pertinent bodies of law, policy and procedure.
- Conduct preliminary investigation of cases, make recommendations on security check vetting for applicants for immigration benefits, utilize and generate intelligence information concerning refugee applicants, populations, and trends in refugee fraud and violations of law.
- Assist with the developing of innovative approaches leveraging inter/intra agency assets to maximize the effectiveness of refugee program integrity and related matters.
- Assist in additional projects as assigned, such as, responding to congressional inquiries, development and presentation of training materials, updating web based resources, drafting policy documents, statistical analysis of program trends, review of fraudulent applications and referring for further investigation and logistics and planning activities.
- Conduct In-Field Training for new refugee officers, and identify emergent training needs and effective case examples for enhancement of necessary SVPI policies.
