What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
Salary:
GS-7, $40,684 (Step 01) to $52,893 (Step 10); GS-6, $36,611 (Step 01) to $47,598 (Step 10)
NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.
There is one vacancy that may be filled at the GS-06 or 07 level; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.

Duties
As an Administrative Operations Assistant (OA) within the Wyoming-Montana Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
-Assist the Administrative Officer (AO) in managing budget execution.
-Perform year end close out duties including determining outstanding expenditures and obligations for all accounts.
-Ensures funds for projected expenditures and obligations are set aside.
-Reconciles bankcard statements and resolves discrepancies.
-Develops and maintains accountability and security procedures for property and equipment, in accordance with USGS regulations and policies.
-Monitors employee attendance records to ensure accuracy.
Above duties are for the GS-07 level. At the lower grade level, the incumbent performs a wide range of tasks described in the above listing of duties and responsibilities. At the lower level, the employee will be assigned work designed to further develop and refine their knowledge and skills. Assignments will typically combine productive work with on-going training and instruction. Supervision received at the lower level will be closer with oversight and review being provided more frequently.
