We are looking for an intern who shares an interest in financial services. This position requires attention to detail and being able to perform under mandated deadlines. We are looking for an intern who is service-oriented, enjoys variety in their work, and is comfortable working in a team environment.
As a Recent Graduate in the Pathways Program, you will be provided with an opportunity to explore Federal Civil Service employment at the beginning of your career. This position is a temporary appointment up to one year. You may be eligible for conversion to a term or permanent position in the competitive service, after successful completion of one year in the program, provided you satisfy the program requirements as well as work and funding is available. There is no implied expectation of conversion in this career opportunity.

Duties
As an Accountant Trainee, you will perform a variety of tasks and functions, which will require application of your formal education, supporting staff members and the organization in the accomplishment of their duties and mission. You will perform developmental assignments, under closer than normal supervision in the areas of accounting/auditing. The position is designed to provide you with practical work experience that augments your academic course of study.
The duties will include working with automated financial systems, assisting with reconciling general ledger accounts, utilizing Microsoft (MS) Excel to perform financial analysis; providing support to financial manager; working with obligations on various types of contract documents, developing analytical skills, familiarization of Oracle Federal Financial application and reporting capabilities. In addition, the trainee will learn to maintain electronic financial records, prepare periodic financial reports, assist with audit transactions, document findings and support financial staff in various duties assigned.
