Duties

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD), Office of Biometric and Identity Management (OBIM), Corporate Support Branch. In this position, you will:

-Coordinate office alterations, modifications, repair projects, telephone work, furnishings and equipment requirements, and other associated services.
-Ensure all offices receive the services to which they are entitled, including structural maintenance, appropriate repairs and improvements, telephone work, furnishing equipment requirements, and other associated services.
-Provide outstanding customer service in the areas of security requests, personal property management, building and equipment maintenance, and logistics.
-Provide logistics, verification, badging for visitors, mail distribution, logging incoming deliveries from UPS, Fed Ex and other couriers.
-Assist in managing audio visual system operations and conference room furniture layouts for meetings.

Qualifications

For GS-5, you must meet one of the following requirements:

A. Completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree or I possess a bachelor's degree.
B. 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal government, performing work which required me to identify problems or issues in a given assignment, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; plan and organize my work; and communicate orally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.
C. A combination of education and experience as described above, which when combined, totals at least 100% of the total requirements.

For GS-7, you must meet one of the following requirements:

A. A bachelor's degree and I meet at least one of the requirements for superior academic achievement (SAA): 1. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. 2. Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. (Grade-point averages are to be rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9.) 3. Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society -- Applicants can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies. Membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.

B. One full year of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree in a field such as business administration, public administration, or another closely related field.

C. At least one year of work experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service, with experience in coordinating office alterations, modifications, repair projects, telephone work, furnishings and equipment requirements, and other associated services; and providing outstanding customer service in the areas of security requests, personal property management, building and equipment maintenance, and logistics.

D. A combination of education and experience where you have less than the full amount of graduate education described in "B" and less than the amount of experience described in "C," but have a combination of the type of education described in "B" and the type of experience described in "C," which when combined, equals 100% of the requirement.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide
valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Time-in-Grade
Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade band in the federal service. The time-in-grade requirement must be met by closing date of this announcement.
