Duties
As realty clerk (office automation), you will serve as the office assistant performing administrative and clerical duties in support of the office. Duties include, but are not limited to , planning and assembling various realty documents, reviewing reports and documents for completeness and clerical accuracy, compiling and maintaining statistical reports, typing and preparing correspondence and reports to both internal and external requests for information, securing ownership information via research of tax rolls, obtaining copies of and filing property conveyance instruments, using various web-based search engines to secure information to assist in office actions.
In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Filing documents in accordance with a pre-established filing system, Scheduling appointments or meetings for a supervisor or office, Answering or referring customer inquiries, Preparing correspondence using word processing software, Utilizing spreadsheets to maintain and report data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
KNOWLEDGE OF OFFICE ADMINISTRATION
KNOWLEDGE OF OFFICE AUTOMATION AND SOFTWARE
SKILL IN COMMUNICATION

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.
This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
