Contact Representatives (Employer Reporting Technicians) contribute to the Agency's mission through direct and personal service to the public. This involves providing technical assistance and problem resolution service to employers (public and private), payroll service organizations, Internal Revenue Service, SSA regional and field offices, and other components within the Office of Central Operations involved in the combined annual wage reporting processes.
This position is located in the Office of Central Operations (OCO), Office of Earnings and International Operations (OEIO), Division of Earnings and Business Services (DEBS), Wabash Complex, 6100 Wabash Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21215.
This position is being filled on a full-time, permanent basis. The shift for this position is 10:30 A.M. TO 7:00 P.M, Monday through Friday.
This is a career-ladder position leading to the GS-7 grade level.

Duties
Employer Reporting Technicians (ERTs) provide assistance to employers/third parties regarding reporting requirements and in resolving systems, policy and technical problems in correcting and submitting reports. Additionally, the ERT investigates and resolves electronic and paper Annual Wage Reporting processing problems, and based upon the investigation, provides appropriate inquiries with the necessary information/clarifying instructions to ensure reports will process correctly. The policy and provisions that govern SSA's programs are extensive, complex and subject to frequent changes in the law. The ERT is required to refer to numerous sources of Agency information, including on-line technical manuals and locally prepared guidelines.
