Every day, our CIS Assistants (OA) respond to written and oral inquiries from the public, other organizations, governmental agencies, Congressional offices and provide information and assistance on applications to applicants/petitioners and/or their legal representatives.
This position of CIS ASSISTANT (OA) starts at a salary of $37,009 GS-05, Step 01 grade level, with promotion potential to $59,600 GS-07, Step 10 grade level.

Relocation expenses for USCIS employees assigned to an OCONUS location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties
The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
As a CIS ASSISTANT (OA), you will:
As a CIS ASSISTANT (OA), you will:
- Respond to written and oral inquiries from the public, other organizations, governmental agencies, Congressional offices; providing non-routine information and assistance on complex applications to applicants/petitioners and/or their legal representatives in response to telephone, walk-in, congressional or other written inquiries on all aspects of immigration and nationality law as it relates to their specific area of responsibility.
- Perform case file analysis and evaluation of cases where adjudication or resolution has been delayed and/or problems encountered.
- Determine basic eligibility for benefits and privileges under the final approval of a senior employee or supervisor.
- Perform appropriate record keeping and reporting tasks and capturing essential statistical data for monthly reports and assists in the preparation of those reports.
- Provide office automation advice, guidance, and assistance to staff.
