Illovo Sugar Malawi Plc Nchalo operations situated 80 km South of Blantyre invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position in the Factory Department.

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma in Industrial Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences. Those with Microbiology Analysis experience will have an added advantage
• Must have 3 years experience in a busy industrial Lab.

Duties

• Undertaking microbiology tests on sugar and water
• Aseptic sampling of sugar and water samples for microbiology testing
• Media preparations, inoculation of samples and results interpretation
• Cleaning and sterilization of glassware and equipment before micro testing
• Calibrating and checking all testing and massing equipment
• Preparing reagents and other chemical formulations for analysis
• Providing information for the preparation of operational budgets for the laboratory
• Providing on-the-job training courses on Laboratory skills
• Ensuring that Quality and Safety Standards are adhered to all the time
