Duties
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to buildings, quarters, and utilities systems.
Perform plumbing related duties including the planning, layout, and routing of piping systems specifically related to water and wastewater systems. Adjusts slant, slope and sets grade of these systems to ensure the proper operation of the water and wastewater systems. Perform video inspection of sewer lines, clearing of blockages, roots and debris from sewer lines, using rods, power augers and hydro-washers. Perform plumbing tasks such as replacing hose bibs, valves, nipples, unions and elbows, fixtures, toilets, flush valves, faucets and various types of pipe and copper lines.
Install, repair and replace electrical systems components. Utilize a full range of hand and power tools common to the building trades. Check, troubleshoot and analyze electrical circuitry using proper equipment to measure; current, voltage and resistance.
Check function, troubleshoot, change filters, replace motors, adjust combustion, test and replace thermostats of gas fired forced air heating systems. Install, service and repair evaporative cooling systems including changing of cooling media, replace drive belts, lubricate bearings, replace pumps, replace motors.
Construct, install, repair, replace, and refinish items such as frame structures, roofing, siding, flooring, sheetrock, doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, windows, trim and cabinets. Apply premixed paints or stains to masonry, gypsum board or wood surfaces using brushes or rollers. Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.
Incidental operator of motor vehicles, trucks, trailers, tractors, skid steer loaders, backhoe, etc.
This work is performed under the normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed.
