Duties
You will be responsible for promoting the safe and efficient movement of maritime traffic in an assigned geographic area. You will ensure that vessel traffic is properly informed, advised or directed in order to reduce the probability of collisions, ramming, grounding, and ensuing environmental damage.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include:
* Monitoring, controlling, and directing the movement of vessel traffic.
* Gathering, analyzing and disseminating a variety of nautical data.
* Coordinating advisory information between participating and non-participating vessels and small craft.
* Assisting other Federal agencies in carrying out operational activities.
* Operating a variety of surveillance sensors, communications, data processing, keyboard, and other electronic equipment.
* Participating in training exercises to prepare for maritime accidents or natural disasters.
This position requires shift work consisting of six 12 hour shifts and one 8 hour shift every two weeks with occasional overtime.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include:
