Duties

These positions are highly visible positions requiring a person multi-skilled in the use of supply automation and concepts to provide purchase care support to customers within and or supported by the VA New Jersey Health Care System, East Orange, NJ. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Forecasts short and long range inventory needs in consideration of usage, essentiality and budgetary limitations;
• Initiates purchase requests for items available from various sources and vendors;
• Audits item histories, procurement documents, and shipment invoices and other available records or files;
• Analyzes various vendor purchase quotes to determine most advantageous for government;
• Researches items requested to be purchases to gain technical knowledge from various listings, catalogs;
• Reconciles all purchased orders and;
• Reconciles fund control points.

Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Key Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Subject to a background/security investigation
• Designated and/or random drug testing may be required

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in Federal service. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work is sedentary at times when the employee is doing work required at a desk. Walking and standing occur often in the course of a normal workday in connection with attendance at meetings, possible to review an area to clarify what services or types of goods may be needed, etc. Items carried typically are light objects such as supplies, notebooks, and data reports. Lifting of small boxes and items of up to 25 pounds may be required at times , but lifting of heavy objects is not normally required; work will require some physical exertion, such as bending, stooping, reaching and similar activities in and around the health care systems.
