Dana HalvorsonAccording to an April 27 edition of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare Learning Network Connects newsletter, “as a result of the April 3 systems update, non-inpatient Veteran’s Administration (VA) claims hitting reason code 31442 are returning to providers incorrectly. CMS is holding these claims until their system is corrected around May 22. CMS will then release these claims for processing. Providers do not need to take any action.”
For more information, see MLN Matters Article #9818. The MLN Matters Article is intended for hospitals and skilled nursing facilities who submit inpatient claims to Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) for services provided to Medicare beneficiaries.
