Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

MCAAP was originally commissioned as the Naval Ammunition Depot McAlester on May 20, 1943 and began its first production in September 1943. In October 1977 the naval facility was transferred to the Army under the Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition act. Our operating hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We are closed on federal holidays. The mission of MCAAP is to produce and renovate quality conventional missile ammunition and ammunition-related components, perform engineering and product assurance in support of production, and receive, store, ship, demilitarize and dispose of conventional and missile ammunition and related items. Duties

1. Serves as lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools (may include water parks and/or beach fronts) and works under the direction of the installation Aquatics Program Manager or pool supervisor.
2. Performs life guarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
3. Responsible for life guarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
4. Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures

Qualifications

Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid.

Conditions of Employment:
1. If selected, a completed and signed copy of our job application form (DA Form 3433) is required prior to entrance on duty. (Click here to view form
2. Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3.
3. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
4. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
5. Lifeguards must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
6. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
7. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
8. Lifeguard certification is required before starting work.
9. Physical is required.
