Duties
The incumbent serves as a Medical Instrument Technician (Cardiovascular) in the Cardiology Section of Medical Service at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The duties will include the following but are not limited to:
Performs highly specialized, complex and difficult electrocardiographic exams including, but not limited to ambulatory monitoring of arrhythmias (Holter), exercise stress testing (ETT), electrocardiograms, and tilt table testing.
- Provides a preliminary diagnostic evaluation to the physician.
- Recognizes typical patient reactions and signs of distress including the ability to recognize, report and treat potentially lethal arrhythmias.
- Adjusts or adapts common equipment settings and standardized procedures to accomplish acceptable results with patients with complicating conditions.
- Provides guidance to lower graded technicians.
- Provides in-service training on the EKG equipment and related instrumentation.
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
