This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the work of a Locksmith without more than normal supervision such as: Adjust, troubleshoot, repair and install a wide variety of commercially manufactured locking devices; Perform a full repair cycle of locating trouble, disassembly, repair, cleaning, reassembly, and reinstallation of a wide variety of locking devices according to appropriate guidelines, manufacturer drawings, diagrams, and technical manuals; Plan techniques to be used and apply judgment in the selection of tools and accepted trade practices to troubleshoot and neutralize lockouts.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g., confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the applicant fails to report to the scheduled drug test appointment. Incumbents of drug testing designated positions will be subject to random testing. Drug test results will be provided to the employing activity/command.
Incumbent may be required to work in shifts.
May be required to work regularly scheduled overtime or overtime on an emergency call-back basis.
Selectee must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
May require certification thru the DoD Lock Program.
Incumbent may be required to travel to away from normal duty station and must be able to travel at least five days per month.
Physical Effort: May be required to lift items weighing approximately 15 pounds. May be required to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier with assistance. Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and working in awkward positions when installing and opening locks and emergency exit hardware on-site.
Working Conditions: Normally done inside. Occasionally work is done outside in bad weather or in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises or burns while using acetylene torches, brazing torches, and soldering irons.
