Summary

This position is located at the Fort Lee Cardinal Golf Club.  The Cardinal Golf Club is a 27-hole championship course located at Fort Lee, south of Richmond, Virginia. The original 18 holes (Red and White), built in 1947 are truly a traditional masterpiece. The third nine (Blue) designed by Ault, Clark and Associates, opened in 2002. Offering a nice variety of length and playability, the three nines are set to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Course yardages measure 6,930 at the longest from the back tees (playing White to Blue) through 5,160 (playing White to Blue) from the most forward tees.  The gentle rolling hills and mature, tree-lined fairways will provide a true championship challenge for golfers of all abilities that offers very reasonable fees and the flexibility to WALK the course. The Cardinal Golf Club allows for a great golfing experience for anyone. The facilities include a full practice range, 2 large putting/chipping greens, practice bunker, and a fully stocked pro shop. Golfers can relax and dine in The Bird's Nest Snack Bar that offers hot and cold sandwiches (breakfast available on weekends), beverages with a wide selection and three televisions to enjoy multiple broadcast events.


This position requires the ability to work shift work, nights, weekends and holidays or on an as needed basis for the Fort Lee Cardinal Golf Club.  This announcement will be used to fill several positions.

Duties

The duties of the Laborer position include but are not limited to:

• Mows grass, trims and edges walkways and lawns.
• Prunes shrubs and trees; applies fertilizer, waters plants, cleans out drainage ditches, shovels snow from walks and driveways
• Loads and unloads supplies, moves materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks, dollies, and government issued vehicles
• Stacks and arranges supplies for storage and remove and collect materials needed

Qualifications

The qualifications of the Laborer include:

• Must possess manual skill to lift and move moderately heavy objects
• Must possess the skill and knowledge to safely operate simple power equipment and hand tools (such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, edges and trimmers).
• Must possess a basic knowledge of routine maintenance procedures for power equipment
• Must possess a basic knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction or repair of fences

*** The highly preferred criteria is candidates possessing previous landscaping or Golf Course experience.
*** Those candidates that meet the highly preferred criteria will be referred to the selecting official first.  All other candidates will be reviewed and referred if the highly preferred list is returned unused or if the selecting official wishes to see additional applicants. ***



Conditions of Employment:
1. A one-year probationary period may be required.
2. Meet all qualification/eligibility requirements.
3. A completed and signed copy DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
4. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-VERIFY) check.
5. Appointment is subject to completion of a favorable background checks/investigation to determine suitability for this position.
6. All required background checks of AR 215-3 and the Crime Control Act must be successfully completed and maintained, including National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
