The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US citizens and Non-citizens within commuting area of Picatinny Arsenal, NJ including Morris, Passiac, Essex, Union, Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren and Sussex counties OR individuals willing to move to this geographic location at their own expense or are still able to commute to this location on a daily basis. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)
This position is located at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. Nestled in the northern New Jersey Highlands, our team of more than 6,000 personnel includes Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, U.S. Federal employees and contractor personnel who lead in the research, development, acquisition and lifecycle management of advanced conventional weapon systems and ammunition.
This rural but active area of New Jersey is only 35 miles west of New York City. Locally, employees enjoy four seasons of recreation, outstanding night life, great schools, and a wonderful community atmosphere.
Picatinny FMWR provides valuable support to Service Members, Civilians, Retirees and Family members. Our team of nearly 250 employees ensure our Installation partners are well cared for through outstanding customer service and personal care. Our MWR portfolio includes Business, Recreation, Child Care and Family Services Programs.
Child and Youth Services recognizes the challenges of our Soldiers and their Families. By offering quality programs for children, youth and students, CYS supports the families by reducing the conflict between mission readiness and parental responsibility.
Our CYS program offers a nine week summer camp program each summer for over 200 school age children. CYS Summer Camp Program is looking for high energy, interactive, team-oriented applicants with the ability to adapt and be flexible in a high paced work environment with varying needs from the children and the program. Summer Camp staff will be working with children ages 6-14 years of age.
All summer employees are required to be available to work the full summer season (Jun 12- Aug 25). This is a recurring position. The individual may return for each summer season.
First cut-off date for the announcement is May 16, 2017, applications received by first cut off date will be referred first to the Selecting Official.

Duties
Staff will be responsible for the accountability and well-being of children within a ratio group of 1:15. Staff expected to plan, implement, and engage youth in daily activities, participate in water activities, and attend weekly field trips. Majority of day is spent outdoors on your feet. Staff will receive 10 days of mandatory training prior to camp start date. Staff expected to be present all nine weeks of Summer Camp.
Helps establish a program environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth and adults. Supervises children and youth during daily schedule of indoor and outdoor activities, on field trips, outings and special events. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices.
