Summary
The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.
About the Position:You will serve as an Administrative Support Technician in a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS), located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Duties
Incumbent provides administrative support to the station's Commander and staff. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative support functions associated with information flow, military and civilian personnel, mail and timekeeping.
- Receive visitors and incoming command telephone calls.
- Review incoming correspondence to include electronic (email), MEPNET, publications, regulations and directives which may affect the office.
- Act as primary civilian and military personnel systems manager for employees of the MEPS.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff personnel concerning such matters as time and leave procedures, travel vouchers, and reporting and correspondence procedures.
- Maintains and updates the Joint Personnel System (JPS), as military and civilian personnel arrive and depart.
- Coordinates with CPAC to ensure newly assigned personnel attend the mandatory New Employees Orientation.
- Assists newly assigned personnel with accessing and enrollment into the Army Benefits Center,
- Ensure incoming civilian and military personnel are provided instructions for processing in the MEPS and are scheduled for appropriate in-briefs, training and office calls IAW timelines of appropriate regulations.
- Verifies newly assigned personnel are briefed on their entitlement to benefits (e.g., life, health insurance, and Thrift Savings Plan).
- Serve as timekeeper for the Defense Civilian Payroll System DCPS).
- Provide advice to all supervisors concerning such matters as time and leave procedures.
- Maintains Commander's calendar and schedules headquarters' leadership key appointments and meetings based upon supervisor guidance, personal knowledge of leadership workload and current issues of importance.
- Review documents prepared for Commander's signature or coordination. Ensure compliance with established regulations, grammar, format and special policies of the office.
- Picks up and receives mail from the U.S. Post Office. Screens incoming mail IAW current security requirements. Sort, open, and routes all incoming mail to the appropriate section.
